  A survey of Enlightenment and Romanticism and how these opposing forces shaped philosophy, literature, art, and music. Various movements will be examined from revolution to evolution to World War I.
• Greek World

  • Professor: Barry Creamer

  An overview of the great themes of the Greek civilization. These themes will be explored through Greek philosophy, poetry, architecture, and politics. Emphasis will be given to the ideas that directly impact later developments within Western Civilization.
• American Culture

  • Professor: Barry Creamer

  Beginning with the richness of American literature, this course will explore the variegated nature of American art, politics, music, and thought. Emphasis will be placed on the lives of American authors and how they influenced the times in which they lived.
• Introduction to Ethics

  • Professor: Barry Creamer

  A survey of the biblical teachings, basic vocabulary, and major issues of the moral life. Attention is given to character development and societal amelioration as well as to the rightness or wrongness of individual choices.
• OT Preaching

  • Professor: Barry Creamer

  The use of Hebrew exegetical tools and the application of the elementary principles of Hebrew exegesis to a selected passage from the Old Testament for the purpose of preparing an expository sermon. This course will integrate the student’s previous studies in hermeneutics, language, theology, and homiletics in preparing a biblical passage for exposition.
